Durgabari Society is the socio-cultural epicentre of the Bengalee speaking community in the South Delhi since 1974. It organizes religious, charitable and cultural activities throughout the year.
Durgabari was an outcome out of some genetic compulsions of Probasi Bengalee Community to associate under a banner. Snuggled deep in the heart of Kailash-Greater Kailash-1, Durga Bari presents an ideal environment for the study and practice of ancient teachings: holding monthly religious discourses, conducting daily/ weekly Pujas, and celebrating almost all festivals, capitalized by the Durga Puja. Considered the Octo-Fest of the East, Durga Puja is celebrated with high spirits and grandeur by over 3000 devotees. Regarded as the embodiment of Shakti (power), Maa Durga signifies the victory of good over evil.
Durgabari also aims to provide a platform for cultural, educational, and youth programs geared towards the traditional values. From football to cricket, indoor games, a reading room with books and a professionally-run websites to tastefully-published newsletters…Durga Bari has become a community hot spot. The auditorium caters to the artist entrenched in the hearts of the youths – be it painting, classical vocals, table , and classical dance. The Clinic takes care of a modern physiotherapy unit. A yoga and dance class is also there for the enthusiasts.
